Do you have an 8am to a 4pm job?

How do you feel working on a day job?

Let me help you to look at a different perspective. If you are working a day job, you are actually making other people dream come true. Let’s be practical. There is nothing wrong working your day job. It is still good to do so as we need income to survive and live. However, you should not forget to work on your dream and making it a reality. There is when the word Hustle is born.

Starting MarvinInspire is my hustle to add value my audience which includes you. It is deeply connected to my “WHY.”

My why is to inspire people to embrace the life obstacles so that they can grow living life with fulfilment.

Enough about me, the focus is how can I add value to you? By doing your hustle, you are actually making your dream into a reality. Here are the 5 hustle tips to achieve success!

1. Discover your Sweet Spot.

Sweet Spot is the intersection between your passion and your strength.  Your strength is what you are great at. It is basically your skills. Passion is the things you love to do with zero feeling burden. You are willing to do it for free.  Your sweet spot is the intersection of these two functions. A friend of mine, Claudius love to share an inspiring story that connects deep into our soul. That is his passion. Photography is his strength.  He is damn good in capturing moments with his Leica camera. He is in his Sweet Spot. He is willing to invest his time and money into his hustle despite challenges he faced.

Strength Passion and Sweet Spot

So how to discover your sweet spot? List down your strength and then list down your passion. Look at your list and ponder about it. Do not overthink and just try and try until you discover it. Once you found it, you need to stay in it which leads to the next tip.

Hustle Tips: Overthinking your passion and your strength is deadly. Just do and find out whether you love it or not. Give yourself 6 months to work on it. If it is your sweet spot, don’t ever stop.

2. Stay in LOVE with your Sweet Spot.

Falling in love in your sweet spot is good. But, staying in love with your sweet spot is great. It is the best way to direct you to success. In other words, stay in love with the process. Enjoy the process. Trust the process.

Most of us will look at goals as an event. We see success as an event that can be achieved like a tick in a box. This tip is important. So I am going to break it down.

Most people see health as an event: “If I just lose 10kg, then I’ll be in the best shape of my life and get my 6 pack abs.  Once you got it, then what? Are you going to stop being healthy? It is about consistency.

If you observe the people who achieve their goals, you start to realize that it is not the events or the results that make them different. It is their commitment to the process. They fall in love with the daily practice, not the individual event. They demonstrate perseverance and persistence overcoming the life obstacles.

If you want to be in the best shape of your life, then losing 10kg may be necessary. But the only way to make it happen is to fall in love with the process of eating healthy and workout consistently.

Stay in love with your sweet spot and trust the process. Believe me, it will be worth it.

Hustle Tips: It takes an enormous amount of patience to achieve the breakthrough that you desire.  Patience means 5 years process of working.

3. Expect  failure-  learning

Be prepared to fail and be ever ready to learn. Just imagine, a baby is about to learn to walk. She will fall over and over and over again until she just takes the first step. Then the second step. Then, the third step. The next thing you know she will start running. We have the power of perseverance and persistence since we were born. But, when life punches you in your face, you stayed in your comfort zone. Same goes to your hustle journey. It will push you out of your comfort zone.  Be prepared to fail and be ever ready to learn. Be stubborn on working on your hustle, however, be flexible with your approach.

Hustle Tips: It is alright to fail for failure is your best teacher. Learn for it and move on.

4. Do the work!

This is the most cliche statement ever. Work! They are two kinds of people in life. The first kind of people will say I’m going to wait until I feel like doing it. The second kind of people will say I’m going to do it until I feel like it. The first one will never get anything done because he still waiting and waiting to feel the moment to move. The other person will work, and then he will begin to feel the moment. Which one are you? It is very obvious, be the second person and get things done.

Be prepared for some late nights and early morning. You need to invest at least 2 to 3 hours at minimum to do the work every single day.  You may need to invest more hours during the weekend. Sacrifice needs to be done.

Sacrifices is a necessity to build your hustle. You may need to sacrifice your leisure hours, movie nights, drinking session, party and the list goes on and on. You got 24 hours in a day, you got to learn to utilise it at max!

Hustle Tips: Remember the 4 D of success. Desire, Determination, Dedication and Discipline!

5. Reward yourself.

I believe in the word balance. You work in your 9am to a 5pm job, then you hustle 2 to 3 hours at night. Believe me, it can be exhausting. Remember to reward yourself, set one day in a week for your to relax and chill. You need it to recharge and learn to turn off. You need to find out what works for you. Probably, once every two weeks. It is up to you. The bottom line is to turn off and enjoy yourself. After that, switch to your hustle mode and work.

For me, I love the moment of silence. I usually, read books at the beach, and that is how my inspiration grow. You need to find out what works for you. Do not overthink and for yourself to reward yourself.

Hustle Tips: Invest your reward on what matters to you. It means spending time your family, close friends, and yourself like travelling.

Lets recap! It is good to work your day job. But always remember to hustle your dream. Discover your sweet spot and do not overthink. Lean to fall in love in the process. Expect failure as it is the mother of success. Do the work and focus on the action. Do not focus on your feeling. Always remember to reward yourself.

Keep Hustling for your dream!

6 Pillars of Life Fulfilment

In life, there is always an up and down moment. It is like the electrocardiograph (ECG) reading that measure your heart’s electrical activity. If there is up and down,  it is a sign of life. You are alive! If it is a flat straight line, it is a sign of death. You are actually dead! It is the up and down moment that gives a meaning of life. It is death that gives life worth living. The key word is life fulfilment.

I asked myself, “What does fulfilment mean to me? I believe the definition of Fulfilment will be different to different people. To me, fulfilment is the feeling of completeness, of achieving your goal and connect to your why.  I had to be in the moment of silence to frame on what does fulfilment means to me. It takes some time as well. I came up with the 6 Pillars of Life Fulfilment.

FAITH

Faith is the religious belief that you hold strongly which focus on the teaching. It is the value that you live up that was taught by your faith. The focus is the value and not the label whether you are a Christian, Muslim, Hinduism, Buddist and even Atheist.  My church core teaching is about love and forgiveness. The call to action is to live by the core belief of my faith.  Why do I need to follow my faith? What are the teachings that your faith taught you? How can I live my life based on my faith? These are the questions you can ask yourself. Most importantly take action!

FAMILY

A family are the most important people in my life. They are the one who accepts your weakness and strength. No matter what, they will always be there in that up and down moment. The call to action is to spend quality time with your parents and siblings. Especially your beloved father and mother. As we move into adulthood, we are so busy growing up, we often forget they are also growing old.

FITNESS

There is a saying, take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. The human body was never designed for a sedentary lifestyle. We are designed to jump, run, swim, push, pull and lift. But, modernisation has changed that.  We cannot just sit in the office for long hours in front of the computer. We need to move. How you take care of your body at a young age, will affect your body as you are older. The call to action is to eat well and healthy, exercise, play sports and move.

FINANCIAL

Zig Ziglar stated that money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the ‘gotta have it’ scale. Let us be real here, we need money to survive for us to eat and places to stay. The goal here is to achieve financial freedom at a specific age. May be by the age of 37. The call to action is to create a side income and do not to depend on one source of income. We need to hustle and grind to achieve the financial freedom.

FRIENDS

Your true friends can consider as you extended family.  They can be your source of support. They are the people who stand for you. They allow you to be yourself without judging you. They provide great company. They want you to be successful. Here, is the hard truth. As we grow older, we do not lose friends. We just learn who the real ones are. The call of action is to invest time with the right friends. The real one will accept who you are and even what you are. You have to choose the right friend to be with, you are an average of your five closest friends. If you have encouraging and positive friends, you will be motivated and positive. That will determine your future.

FREEDOM

Freedom is a state of not being restricted or subjected to anything. Basically, you can do anything you desire to do. However, it is something you have to work hard and earn. It comes with a balance. A sailor must be a master of the compass to earn the freedom to sail anyway. If he did master the compass, he is bounded to the vicinity of the shore only. Imagined, when you’re ordering food at an expensive restaurant and you do not need to look at the price of the food. That is freedom! To be specific, it is financial freedom. You must master different languages to earn the freedom to build a relationship with people of different races. You must master your time to earn the freedom to do whatever you want or need. It requires time and hardship to earn the freedom that you deserve. The call of action is to determine the type of freedom that you desire and work towards that direction. Your degree of freedom will be different at a different age. Your financial freedom could be different when you at age of 20 compared to the age of 40. It is depending on what you do will determine whether you have more freedom or less freedom. Remember, it requires work and it will not be easy at first. However, it will be worth it.

Let recap,  it is the up and down moment of life that gives meaning for us to live. The key work is life fulfilment. The 6 pillars of life fulfilment are Faith, Family, Fitness, Financial Friends, and finally Freedom. The first step is to accept it, then you got to work to earn it and finally, you can live it. Remember, it will be hard but it will be worth it.
